The science learning goals of hands on experiences include enhancing mastery of science subject matter, developing scientific reasoning abilities, developing practical skills, increasing understanding of the nature of science, and many more. In the above context activity related to volcanes was performed by the students of Grade V.
Volcanoes are landforms that occur when magma (molten rock) from the Earth's interior rises to the surface, resulting in eruptions of molten rock, ash, and gas. With the help of this activity the students learnt that volcanoes are vents or fissures in the Earth's crust through which magma, ash, and gases escape.
