International Day for Biological Diversity

Biodiversity is the variation among living organisms from different sources including terrestrial, marine and desert ecosystems, and the ecological complexes of which they are a part.” Biodiversity of our planet is key to human survival. There are an estimated 8.7 million species of plants and animals on Earth, but biodiversity is more than just a count of how many different types of plants and animals (species) exist in an area or on the planet. Recognizing the paramount importance of biodiversity, the United Nations designated the ‘International Day for Biological Diversity’ to raise awareness and promote action towards its conservation.

As part of this global initiative, a creative and educational endeavor was undertaken by the students of Grades V-VIII- Endangered Animal Mask Making Competition. In this activity, students made the mask of an endangered animal and also spoke about the cause of their extinction. By engaging in this activity, students not only honed their artistic skills but also gained a deeper understanding of the complex ecological challenges faced by our planet. The students of Grade XI participated in an activity of Bulletin Board making, wherein the students represented :"Variety of life on Earth" on a Bulletin board.
