Learning by doing is the idea that we learn more when we actually ‘do’ the activity. Students of Grade III learnt about different punctuation marks used in the English language through hands-on activity. They made finger puppets of the four basic punctuation marks and identified which one to use as the teacher read out various sentences. Keen to use their self created finger puppets boosted each student’s confidence and they learnt the concept well through trial and error. At the end of the session, all the students were clear with the identification and usage of the punctuation marks.
