"Mathematics is the queen of science, and arithmetic the queen of mathematics." It is there all around us, in everyday situations such as cooking, gardening and collecting data about the number of people.
To make students more comfortable with multiplication, a Flip Off Paper Plate activity was organized. On one side of a paper plate a multiplication question was written and on other side its product was written. Students came and picked up one plate and read aloud the question. Without flipping the plate over they calculated the answer. After that they fliped over the plate and self- checked whether their answer was correct or not. The activity not only made multiplication interesting but also gave the students confidence to check their work.
